Free TV broadcasters are the highest taxed in the world

Commercial television broadcasters welcome the Convergence Review Committee’s recognition that licence fees do not reflect the value of the spectrum used.

International benchmarking analysis conducted by Venture Consulting shows that Australian broadcasting licence fees are, by any measure, significantly higher than anywhere else in the world.

The Venture Report recommends that broadcast licence fees for Australia should be set no higher than 1% of gross revenues.
