Free TV Australia works with all commercial and national broadcasters on common technical issues facing the free-to-air broadcasting ‘platform’, so that all Australians can receive all free-to-air TV services for their location, free, via a single antenna or satellite dish.

Its major roles include:

  • Developing common operational practices for this industry.
  • Contributing to technical planning and standard setting bodies.
  • Participating in national and international negotiations about the development of the broadcasting system.
  • Involvement in related technical matters, such as technical and safety standards.
