Troubleshooting

Having problems? Refer below for a list of some common issues associated with using the Parental Lock feature:

I can’t find my
Parental Lock function.
  • The Parental Lock is normally accessed via your device’s MENU or SET-UP function, which can be accessed using your remote control. It may also be found under SETTINGS or OPTIONS.
  • While most digital TVs, set-top-boxes and digital recorders have a Parental Lock function, some older models may not have this feature.
  • You should check you product manual or user guide, or contact the manufacturer if you are having difficulty finding this feature on your particular device.

I don’t know my PIN.
  • When accessing the Parental Lock for the first time, the PIN will be a default PIN set by your manufacturer. In most instances this will be 0000 or 1234. Once the default PIN is entered, you can then nominate your own PIN.
  • If you can’t remember or have lost your PIN, consult your product manual or user guide or contact the manufacturer. You may be required to reset your device to the default factory settings. Please note that this will erase all settings and may require you to rescan for channels.

When I activate the feature, the program or channel that I have blocked can still be viewed.
  • In some cases, you will need to either change channels or turn your TV or device off and then back on again for the lock to be activated.
  • Check that you haven’t accidently selected the block off or lock off feature.
  • In some cases, to block a particular classification and above, you will need to select that classification and each other classification, individually.
  • Some sport content, such as news and current affairs programs are not subject to classification and therefore will be able to viewed, unless you have chosen to block a whole channel.
  • You should also be aware that, in most cases, the Parental Lock feature does not work on recorded programs this includes content that has been paused even for a moment.
  • In some cases, you may be able to apply the Parental Lock feature for various inputs into your device. Check that you have activated the device for the channel or input that you are viewing the content.

I can’t turn off the Parental Lock.
  • Check your settings to ensure that the block all or lock system option has not been selected.

My screen has gone to black.
  • A black screen often means the Parental Lock has been activated for that particular program or channel.  Check your Lock feature to ensure only the content you want to block (classifications or channels) has been selected.
  • Check your settings to ensure that the block all or lock system option has not been selected.
  • Try unlocking all and reselecting the options you desire.
  • Try turning your TV off and then back on again, and accessing your Lock feature again to ensure you have only selected the content you wish to block.

My PIN isn’t working.
  • When accessing the Parental Lock for the first time, the PIN will be a default PIN set by your manufacturer. In most instances this will be 0000 or 1234.
